New Embankment in Pegangsaan Dua is Effective in Dealing with Inundation

Residents living in RT 04/03 Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, benefited from the embankment on the Cakung Riverbank which they built independently last year.

RT 04/03 Pegangsaan Urban Village Chairman, Parid said the construction of the 580-meter-long embankment with 51 centimeters high and 20 centimeters wide can overcome the inundation when it rains.

"Previously, our residential was often inundated from the overflowing waters of the Cakung Lama River. But now that doesn't happen anymore," he said, Monday (2/6).

Next Week, Embankment Construction on Karya Island Completed

This embankment was also effective in anticipating the occupation of land on the riverbank. Previously, many residents built buildings on the banks and caused the narrowing of the river.

"Its existence can also give a sense of security, as no one is playing on the riverbanks," he stated.
